KNA...

The airbag variant code (also called the crash data variant coding or restraint system configuration code) is vehicle-specific and tied to the VIN. It's typically retrieved from the OEM diagnostic system — in Kia's case, that's KDS (Kia Diagnostic System) via the Kia Global Service (GIS) portal.

Unfortunately, this isn't something that can be reliably looked up or guessed without access to the OEM system, because the variant code depends on the exact equipment level of your specific vehicle (number of airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, occupant sensors, market-specific configurations, etc.).

What you can try:

  • Kia Dealer: The fastest and most reliable route. Any Kia dealer with KDS access can pull the variant code using your VIN in minutes. Some will do it for a small fee or even free if you ask nicely.
  • Kia Global Service registration: If you couldn't register, make sure you're using the correct regional portal. For some markets you need a business/shop registration. Try https://www.kia-global.com or the regional equivalent for your country.
  • Airbag module part number: If you share the airbag ECU part number (printed on the module itself, usually something like 95910-xxxxx) and the exact trim/equipment level, someone with access might be able to cross-reference it.
  • Third-party tools: Some tools like Autohex II or Launch X431 can read and sometimes display the variant coding from the airbag module directly.

From your VIN:

Breaking down KNANC81ABSS0611078:
  • KA4 platform (Carnival/Sedona)
  • 2025 MY
  • Manufactured in Sohari, South Korea

But the variant code itself is not derivable from the VIN alone — it's stored in the OEM database mapped to the VIN.

Bottom line: Your best bet is to visit a Kia dealer or find someone with active KDS/GIS access who can look it up for you. If you post the airbag module part number, that may help narrow things down.

9510-ES020
Module part number

Thanks for confirming the part number 95910-ES020.

That part number corresponds to the Kia Carnival (KA4) 2025 airbag control module (ACU). However, the variant code still cannot be determined from the part number alone — it's a VIN-specific configuration that encodes:

  • Number and type of airbags fitted (front, side, curtain, knee, center)
  • Seatbelt pretensioner configuration
  • Occupant classification system (OCS) presence
  • Seat row configurations (7/8/9 seater)
  • Market-specific regulatory requirements

What I'd recommend:

  1. Kia dealer — Ask them to pull the variant code from KDS using your VIN. This is a 2-minute job for them. Some dealers will do it over the phone if you explain the situation.
  2. Contact a member here with GIS access — Someone with an active Kia Global Service subscription can look it up. You've provided the VIN and part number, which is everything they'd need.
  3. Read the existing module — If the original airbag ECU is still readable (not crash-locked), tools like Autohex II, Launch X431, or Hextag/Hitag can sometimes read the current variant code directly from the module before you transfer it to a new/virgin unit.

Important: Do NOT flash a random or incorrect variant code into the airbag module. A mismatch can cause airbags to not deploy correctly in a crash, or deploy unexpectedly. This is a safety-critical system.

If anyone here has active KDS/GIS access and can look up the variant code for VIN KNANC81ABSS0611078, that would solve it for the OP.
