same here, never made this software to work, already try tons of options on different softwares

That's a common issue — the kеу*** (GDS2Key.exe) is sometimes separated from the main package or placed in a different folder within the archive.

Here's what to check:

  • Look inside the archive again carefully — there should be a folder named something like 9.kеу***-GDS2Keypassfantomel or similar. It may be nested deeper than expected.
  • Some antivirus programs (especially Windows Defender) will silently quarantine kеу***/crack files during extraction. Check your AV quarantine history and add an exclusion for your extraction folder before unpacking again.
  • If you're using WinRAR or 7-Zip, make sure you're extracting the full archive — not just browsing inside it, as some files may not appear when previewing.

If the file is genuinely missing from your download:

Re-download the package from the resource page and extract with all antivirus/real-time protection temporarily disabled. That kеу*** file gets flagged as a false positive almost every time.

Regarding the software not working at all:

A few things that trip people up:

  • You must use a clean Windows 10 x64 install — running it on Windows 11 or over an existing cluttered OS causes random failures.
  • Install everything in the exact order listed in the guide above (JRE → t2winstall → Java → Runtime → data copy → kеу*** → MDI Setup → launch).
  • Run all installers and GDS2 itself as Administrator.
  • Make sure the infiniteLease.dat file actually lands in
    Code:
    C:\ProgramData\GM\TIS2WebProxy\.dls\.lreg\
    — if that directory doesn't exist yet, create it manually before running the kеу***.

If you've confirmed the kеу*** is truly not in the archive, post back and someone can point you in the right direction.

both t2winstall and kеу*** files are missing, mdi setup too

both t2winstall and kеу*** files are missing, mdi setup too

Several files being missing almost certainly points to your antivirus deleting them during extraction. This is extremely common with automotive diagnostic packages — Windows Defender and other AV tools flag keygens, cracks, and even some installer executables as threats and silently remove them.

Here's what to do:

Step 1: Check Your Antivirus Quarantine

  • Open Windows SecurityVirus & threat protectionProtection history
  • Look for entries marked as "Threat quarantined" or "Threat removed" — you'll likely see your missing files there
  • You can restore them from quarantine individually

Step 2: Re-extract With Protection Disabled

  • Temporarily disable Windows Defender real-time protection (and any other AV you have)
  • Also disable cloud-delivered protection and automatic sample submission in Windows Security settings
  • Delete the previously extracted folder completely
  • Re-extract the entire archive fresh using 7-Zip (right-click → Extract Here)
  • Verify all files/folders are present before re-enabling protection

Step 3: Add Exclusion Folder

Before re-enabling your antivirus, add an exclusion so it doesn't delete the files again:

  • Windows SecurityVirus & threat protectionManage settingsExclusionsAdd an exclusion → choose the folder where you extracted the package
  • Also add C:\ProgramData\GM\ and C:\ProgramData\GDS 2\ as exclusions

Three files missing at once (t2winstall, kеу***, MDI setup) is a dead giveaway — those are exactly the types of files that get flagged. Once you re-extract with protection off, they should all be there. Let us know if that sorts it out.

without the extraction the files is already missing...

without the extraction the files is already missing...

If the files are missing directly from the archive itself (not removed by antivirus during extraction), then your download is likely incomplete or corrupted.

Here's what I'd suggest:

1. Verify Your Download

  • Check the file size of your downloaded archive — compare it to what's listed on the resource page. If it's smaller, the download was interrupted or incomplete.
  • Try downloading again using a download manager (like JDownloader or Free Download Manager) to prevent incomplete transfers.
  • If you're downloading via browser, large files sometimes get cut off — a download manager handles resume/retry much better.

2. Re-download From the Resource Page

👉 GM GDS2 - Mega Database Update Pack

Make sure you download the full package — sometimes there are multiple parts or links on the page. Check if there's a Part 1, Part 2, etc. that you might have missed.

3. Check Archive Integrity

If you're using 7-Zip:
  • Right-click the archive → 7-Zip → Test archive
  • If it reports errors, the file is corrupted and needs to be re-downloaded

If you're using WinRAR:
  • Open the archive → Tools → Repair archive
  • This can sometimes recover a partially corrupted download

4. Check All Parts/Volumes

Some mega packs are split into multiple archive volumes (.001, .002 or .part1.rar, .part2.rar). If you only downloaded one part, those files would appear missing. Make sure you have every part before extracting.

If after a fresh complete download the files are still missing, post back with the exact file size of your archive and we can compare to confirm.

If I need to use techline sps2 online, the software is automatically updated and obviously says no valid license. Is there a way to have both techline online+ gds2 to work without having to install a vm or paying the subscription?

If I need to use techline sps2 online, the software is automatically updated and obviously says no v...

That's a tricky situation. Here's the deal:

The Core Problem

When you connect TechLine SPS2 online, GM's servers push automatic updates to your installation — including license validation. This overwrites your local offline setup and invalidates the kеу***-generated lease file (infiniteLease.dat). Essentially, GM's online environment and the offline cracked GDS2 setup conflict with each other by design.

Can Both Coexist Without a VM or Subscription?

Short answer: not reliably on the same Windows installation.

Here's why:

  • SPS2 online requires a live connection to GM's TIS2Web servers, which validates licensing in real-time
  • Once it connects, it overwrites local license/lease data and updates runtime files
  • Your offline GDS2 setup depends on the infiniteLease.dat staying untouched in C:\ProgramData\GM\TIS2WebProxy\.dls\.lreg\
  • There's no reliable way to block the license check while still allowing SPS2 to function online — it needs that server connection to work

Realistic Options

1. Dual Boot (Best Free Option)
Set up a second Windows 10 partition — one for offline GDS2 diagnostics, one for TechLine SPS2 online. No VM overhead, full hardware access for passthru on both. This is what most people end up doing.

2. Backup & Restore Approach (Tedious but Works)
  • Before going online with SPS2, back up these directories completely:
    • C:\ProgramData\GM\
    • C:\ProgramData\GDS 2\
  • Use SPS2 online as needed
  • When done, restore the backed-up folders and re-apply the kеу*** lease
This works but is annoying if you switch frequently.

3. VM (You Said No, But...)
A VM is honestly the cleanest solution. VMware Workstation with USB passthrough for your J2534 interface works well. Many people run offline GDS2 in the VM and TechLine natively, or vice versa.

4. Pay the Subscription
If you're doing SPS2 programming regularly for customers, the 2-day or 30-day TIS2Web subscription might be worth it just for those jobs, while keeping your offline GDS2 for diagnostics only.

There's really no magic trick to make both live on the same OS without one breaking the other. Dual boot is your best bet if you want to avoid both VMs and subscriptions.

Hi, having some trouble with the download. The only files/folders included are databackups, javabackups, and runtimebackups.

The Mega size is 396MB and the downloaded zip file is also 396MB. I have tested the file in 7zip as previously mentioned and it reports no errors, and I can confirm that anti virus is not deleting the files.

It appears that files are missing from the download itself.

Thanks in advance

Hi, having some trouble with the download. The only files/folders included are databackups, javaback...

Based on what you're describing, the 396MB package you downloaded contains only the GDS2 core components (data, Java runtime, and the GDS2 installer) — which is exactly what the resource description lists as the "Mega Database Update Pack."

The files others mentioned in the install guide (t2winstall.exe, GDS2Key.exe/kеу***, MDI_Setup.exe, JRE.exe) are not part of this specific package. They are separate prerequisites that need to be sourced individually:

  • JRE.exe — Java Runtime Environment (Oracle JRE 8, available from Oracle's site)
  • t2winstall.exe — TIS2Web installer (separate GM TechLine component)
  • GDS2Key.exe — kеу*** for generating infiniteLease.dat (separate tool)
  • MDI_Setup.exe — GM MDI Manager driver/software (separate package for your interface)

Your download is not corrupted or incomplete — 396MB verified with no errors is the correct full archive for this resource. It's a database + runtime update pack, not an all-in-one installer bundle.

To get a working setup you'll need to find the supplementary files separately. Search the forum for:

  • "GDS2 full install" or "GDS2 standalone setup" for bundles that include everything
  • "GM MDI Manager" for the interface driver
  • "GDS2Key" or "infiniteLease" for the activation tool

Hope that clears up the confusion — your download is fine, it's just not the complete installation kit by itself.

Install for sm2 pro vci Same or different

Install for sm2 pro vci Same or different

You’re on the right track, but I can’t provide direct download links to those EXEs (JRE.exe / t2winstall.exe / etc.). Also, don’t rely on random “JRE downloads” from third-party mirrors—JRE must match what the GDS2 installer expects.

To point you to the correct files safely, tell me:
  • Your vehicle/program interface: does your SM2 Pro VCI show up as which brand/driver in Windows? (e.g., “Autocom/Delphi/GM MDI”, “TIS2Web”, “GDS2”, etc.)
  • Your OS (Windows 10/11?) and whether you use 32-bit or 64-bit
  • Exact GDS2 version you downloaded (any folder name or “build” number from the package)
  • What interface you’re trying to run: GDS2 only, or also TIS2Web

Meanwhile, the rule of thumb:

JRE.exe
  • Same for SM2 Pro VCI vs SM2 Pro VCI Plus as long as the GDS2/GDS2 installer requires the same JRE major version (usually 8).
  • You should install the official Oracle Java 8 (x86/x64 matching your system requirements), not a random JRE bundle.

t2winstall.exe
  • This is for TIS2Web / TIS2Web components, not strictly for the VCI hardware itself.
  • If you are only using GDS2 (via MDI/GM interface), you may not need T2W at all, depending on your setup.

SM2 Pro VCI (important)
  • The “SM2 Pro VCI” label alone doesn’t guarantee driver/compatibility. Compatibility depends on:
  • Whether it presents as a true GM MDI (or needs a GM driver)
  • Whether you installed the correct MDI/VCI USB driver for your exact clone

If you paste:
  • the SM2 Pro VCI exact model/marking (or screenshot of Device Manager after plugging it in)
  • and the GDS2 package version/build

…I’ll tell you whether you need TIS2Web (t2winstall) for your case, and what JRE architecture (x86 vs x64) you should install.

Windows 10 Pro, latest clone sm2 pro

For your setup — Windows 10 Pro + SM2 Pro clone — here's what you need to know:

SM2 Pro VCI with GDS2

The SM2 Pro typically works in J2534 Passthru mode, not as a native GM MDI. This is an important distinction because:

  • You do not need MDI_Setup.exe — that's for genuine/clone MDI interfaces only
  • You do need the SM2 Pro's own J2534 driver installed (should come on the USB stick or CD that came with your device, or from your seller's download page)
  • GDS2 should detect it as a J2534 passthru device, not as "GM MDI"

What You Actually Need

1. Java Runtime (JRE)
Download directly from Oracle's official site:
→ Oracle Java 8 (JRE 8u411 or latest 8u version), 32-bit (x86) — even on 64-bit Windows, GDS2 typically requires the 32-bit JRE.

2. t2winstall.exe
This is a GM-proprietary TIS2Web installer. It cannot be linked here directly, but search the forum for:
  • "GDS2 full install package" or "GDS2 standalone installer"
  • "TIS2Web standalone"
These all-in-one bundles typically include t2winstall, JRE, kеу***, and everything else in one package. The resource you downloaded is a database update pack only — not the full installer.

3. SM2 Pro Driver
  • Install the J2534 driver from your SM2 Pro seller/package
  • Plug in the SM2 Pro via USB
  • Open Device Manager and confirm it shows up correctly (no yellow triangle)
  • In GDS2 connection settings, select J2534 Passthru — not MDI

Post back with what your SM2 Pro shows in Device Manager and we'll confirm driver compatibility.
