BimmerLink / BimmerCode / BimmerBTool Expert / BimmerUtility / BimmerInsight

A good set of applications from SG Software for working with BMW/MINI. I'll briefly go through each one so people understand what each is for and if it's worth the hassle.

BimmerCode 4.29.0 / 4.3 iOS
The most popular in the lineup. Allows coding hidden features via OBD2 + BT/WiFi adapter (Vgate iCar Pro, OBDLink, etc.). Supports F/G/I series. Typical features include:
Activating the digital speedometer
Folding mirrors with the remote
Changing the startup animation
Configuring Active Sound Design (ASD)
Coding Instrument Cluster, Head Unit, CID
The screenshot shows the BimmerCode menu with sections for Central Information Display, Headunit, Instrument Cluster, Active Sound Design ASD, etc. — the standard interface for the G-series.

BimmerLink 2.36.2
Real-time diagnostics: reading/clearing errors, monitoring sensors, registering battery replacement. Essentially, a mobile replacement for basic ISTA functions for quick checks.

BimmerBTool 3.7.8 Expert / 3.8.11 Lite
Tailored for diesels — DPF regeneration control, injector testing, service resets. The Lite version is for testing adapter compatibility before purchasing the Expert version.

BimmerUtility 1.14.07
Advanced NCD file editing. This is for those who understand BMW coding structure and want to work directly with files, rather than through BimmerCode's GUI menus. Supports F/G/I series.

BimmerInsight 2.2.3
Decoding DTCs with repair recommendations. Useful as a reference when ISTA gives a code, and you want to quickly check on your phone what it is and how critical it is.

Important points:

Adapter — not just any ELM327 will work. For BimmerCode/BimmerLink, a compatible adapter is needed (Vgate iCar Pro BLE, OBDLink CX/LX/MX+). Cheap Chinese ELM327 v1.5/v2.1 clones in most cases do not work or work unstably.
Backup — BimmerCode creates a backup before coding. Do not skip this step. If something goes wrong, a rollback will save you a trip to the dealer.
Ignition — code only with the ignition on (ACC ON or Engine ON), not with the engine running, unless it's for monitoring.
Compatibility — E-series are supported limitedly (mainly E9x/E8x/E6x via BimmerLink). Full coding support is for F/G/I series.
